Candidate 1  -  8/8

Q5(a) (i) - The candidate was awarded 2 marks because ‘not oxidise’ and ‘easily cleaned’ are correct responses.

Q5(a) (ii) - The candidate was awarded 2 marks because ‘sold cheaper, making it more appealing’ and ‘no need for such a large workforce’ saving money on salaries are correct responses.

Q5(b) - The candidate was awarded 1 mark because ‘injection moulding’ is a correct response.

Q5(c) - The candidate was awarded 3 marks because ‘accuracy’, ‘short period of time’ and ‘needing to train staff’ are three correct examples of impacts on the manufacturer.


Candidate 2 - 7/8

Q5(a) (i) - The candidate was awarded 2 marks because does not rust and ‘durable’ are correct responses.

Q5(a) (ii) - The candidate was awarded 2 marks because ‘produced quickly’ and ‘lots of colanders to sell’ are both correct responses.

Q5(b) - The candidate was awarded 0 marks because CNC is incorrect.

Q5(c) - The candidate was awarded 3 marks because technology does most of the work, more products to sell faster and more precise are all correct responses.


Candidate 3 - 7/8

Q5(a) (i) - The candidate was awarded 2 marks because ‘shouldn’t rust’ and ‘strong’ are correct responses.

Q5(a) (ii) - The candidate was awarded 1 mark because ‘cheaper in the long run’ is correct however ‘leftovers’ was too vague and did not get a mark.

Q5(b) - The candidate was awarded 1 mark because ‘injection moulding’ is correct.

Q5(c) - The candidate was awarded 3 marks because ‘quicker’, ‘not paying as many employees’ and the machines not taking breaks are all correct responses.
