The candidate was awarded 5 marks because:
- They commented on at least three headings and have been awarded 1 mark for each correct answer up to a maximum of 2 concepts per heading:
- Rhythm/tempo – Swing and Simple Time (overriding their identification of four beats in the bar)
- Melody/harmony – Walking bass
- Instruments/voices – Baritone and Piano - Additional correct answers should be ignored when full marks have already been achieved in each heading.
- Please remember that ‘drums’ and ‘bass’ are not acceptable answers on their own.
