The candidate was awarded 2 marks because:

In part (a) (i) Concerto was the correct answer and in part (b) (i) Minimalist was the correct answer.
In part (a) (ii) the candidate has correctly identified that there was a solo piano. To be awarded the mark however the candidate needed to identify that an orchestra was also featured in the excerpt. No mark was awarded.
In part (b) (ii) see marking instructions – a range of answers which imply repetition of either melody or rhythm are acceptable.
