Internal Verification

SQA expects each centre to carry out internal verification, to ensure consistency and standardisation of assessment judgements between staff in the centre. For more information about the internal verification process, centres should consult the SQA website and review the internal verification toolkit (//www.sqa.org.uk/sqa/74671.html). Careful consideration should be given to things like: approaches taken to prior verification (where required); re-assessment of candidates; and post-delivery review.

For smaller centres, with a limited number of staff involved in delivery, the internal verification process can be a challenge and in many ways this makes the standardisation process even more important in those centres. SQA would encourage smaller centres delivering level 1and 2 qualifications to seek the support and co-operation of other centres as a means of establishing a shared understanding of standards and assessment judgements.
