Understanding Standards: Best Practice in Assessment of SVQs in Business and Administration

This material is intended to help assessors make valid, reliable and consistent assessment decisions when assessing SVQs in Business and Administration. It contains examples of assessment decisions supplemented with notes from External Verifiers explaining why they are good practice.

The material focuses on types of evidence rather than exemplifying specific units, therefore the principles can be applied to any unit and are relevant to all assessors of SVQs in Business and Administration. In addition, the material will remain relevant regardless of changes to units via incremental change or re-accreditation.

Links to material exemplifying assessment methods and evidence types are available from the menu. There is also a summary of the Assessor’s role. The examples provided are not the only acceptable way of doing the methodologies; they can be applied to a wide range of circumstances and units.
