Core Skills are five skills that are key to learning and working in today's world. Employers have identified these skills as those most likely to be needed in a work environment. Not every job will need people who are proficient in all five Core Skills but every job will require some level of ability in some or all of these skills.
Each Core Skill is available at levels 2 to 6 of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Further evidence for Speaking and Listening at SCQF levels 4, 5 and 6, these materials contain video footage of candidates and can be found in the secure area of this website and centre staff must enter a username and password to gain access. Once username details have been entered using the Login link at the top-right of this page Speaking & Listening will appear in the menu on the left when you return to this page.
To find the login details please downloaded the username document from the SQA secure website. Go to the Core Skills section on the SQA secure website, click on the heading ‘Communication Exemplar Assessment Materials’ where you will find a link to the username document at the bottom of the page..
