Course outline

Business Management aims

  • To develop an understanding of the importance of business and enterprise in society
  • To develop an understanding of the structure of organisations and the key functional areas of business
  • To develop problem solving, decision making and analytical skills

The Higher external exam will consist of a case/interpretation item. This is usually constructed from such items as newspaper/magazine articles - with a number of compulsory questions (50 marks) and 5 KU/PS questions of which the candidate must answer 2 for 25 marks each.

Candidates may be asked to:

  • Analyse information given
  • Identify problems
  • Identify constraints
  • Devise solutions
  • Make recommendations
  • Justify recommendations
